Dr. Alain P. Röthlisberger is a seasoned independent board member, bringing deep expertise in strategy, corporate governance, audit, and risk oversight. He is recognized for his strategic thinking, leadership in international and matrix organizations, and strong business acumen supported by excellent organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.

Dr. Röthlisberger is also a Partner at BGPartner Attorneys-at-Law, where he leads the firm’s Middle East Desk and Financial Intermediary Services practice. An accomplished attorney and board member, he specializes in strategy, corporate and commercial law, M&A, and regulatory matters.

With more than 25 years of legal and executive leadership experience, Alain has held senior roles as Attorney-at-Law, Corporate and General Counsel, and Head of Legal & Compliance across financial and capital markets law, securities regulation (including disclosure and takeover regulation), banking law, FinTech, commercial law, employment law, corporate governance, and cross-border M&A. His work spans Switzerland, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, Asia (including China), and the United States.

Dr. Röthlisberger’s academic background includes an Executive MBA from Zurich and Stanford Universities, an LL.M. in International Business Law from the London School of Economics (LSE), and a Juris Doctor (PhD) from the University of Berne. He is admitted to the bar before the High Court of the Canton of Berne.

He is a published author of numerous books and articles on corporate law, corporate governance, securities regulation, banking, and capital markets law. Alain also lectures on FinTech legal and regulatory topics at HWZ University of Applied Sciences in Zurich and contributes his expertise to the Swiss Integrity Commission as an expert member.

In addition to his legal and academic work, Dr. Röthlisberger serves as a Colonel in the Swiss Armed Forces. He has held key roles including Investigating Judge, Attorney General, Chief Judge, Chief of Staff of Military Justice, Infantry Officer (former Swiss Army Commando), OSCE Verificator, and OST Staff Officer.
